Question:

Where can I change my domain (nameserver entries) to the Cool-Box?

Answer:

Please change the nameserver entries for your domain to the settings we provide in the manual.

For .ch and .li domains please visit Switch / NIC

For other extensions, please visit the website of your registrar.

Question:

I changed the nameserver entries of my domain at the registrars website (i.e. Switch/NIC) but my website is still no reachable or points still to the old location. What's wrong?

Answer::

It takes some time to propagate the changes after the modification is completed. Usually 24 up to 48 hours *after* the completion all servers in the internet know about the changes.

Question:

From several computers (i.e. business) I'm not able to administate my email accounts, i.e. 'file error 6' occurs. What's the problem?

Answer::

The authentication for this tool is done by several things, one of this is your ip address. If you're surfing through proxy servers (most companies do) you ip address maybe changes for every request. Please try it from another computer (i.e. at home).

Question:

My SSI (server side includes) sites don't work.

Answer::

Please make sure your files have the extension '.shtml', otherwise the webserver doesn't know the files contain SSI directives. Also note that 'exec=...' are not allowed for security reasons. Remember, only the Cool-Box plan includes SSI.

Question:

Where is the menu of my domain?

Answer::

yourDomain.tld/menu

Question:

How can I protect directories?

Answer::

Please add the desired user to your list: your-domain.tld/menu -> 'administrate web users' -> authenticate with your ftp user/pw -> 'add webuser'. Then modify the file .htaccess (dot-htaccess!) as described in the manual: Set the line «require user» to your desired setting, i.e. «require user donald» or «require user donald dagobert». Now upload the file to the directory which has to be protected. You find an example of this file in your homedirectory (htaccess.example).

Question:

I changed my ftp-user password, but it hasn't changed my postmaster password.

Answer::

The ftp and the postmaster user are completely different users. Therefore they have two different passwords (initial they are set to the same value).

Note: It takes about 15 minutes to propagate the new password.

Question:

I changed my ftp-user password, now I can't login.

Answer::

It takes about 15 minutes after the change of the ftp-user password to propagate it to all Cool-Box services.

Question:

The function 'attach a file' doesn't work at the webmail.

Answer::

It needs two steps: First browse the file, then attach it by choosing the 'attach' button.
